I agree Sixties
A mate of mine once put forward his 'Bella Emberg' theory of attraction. Bella Emberg was in no way to be considered gorgeous, however, if you were stuck on a desert island with no-one else, sooner or later you'd start to fancy her.
With Ferdinand as a given, the Bella Emberg theory is primarily why John Terry is in the England team: who else is there to make him look like the footballing munter he truly is?
- King is outstanding but injured 90% of the time.
- Carragher has given up on the international scene because it doesn't seem to matter how well he plays, Terry gets the nod before him
- Woodgate - see 'King' but change the percentage to 95%.
- Richards has been ear-marked for the right back slot when scouse-hating, brain-donor Neville calls it a day.
- Upson - looks the part but just as injury-prone as Woodgate and King
- Wes Brown - do me a favour
If you look at the centre backs that people see as 'up and coming', the prospects hardly look any better for the next few years at least: Davies and Knight at Villa, Dawson and Gardner at Spurs, Ferdinand Mk2 at West Ham or Riggott at Boro. Obviously there are dozens more coming through academies and youth teams across the country but these six have been playing at the top level.
I hate to say it, but we're stuck with the Chelsea half-wit for the foreseeable future. |
