With Rganics enforced absence as he is rumourmed to be camped outside the Club Shop...err..Superstore awaiting to be first to buy one of the new limited edition Ledesma shirts it is up to me to provide the preview. I have to say I'm not a big fan of Bristol City, I've been a few times to Ashton Gate and results notwithstanding (I haven't seen us win there) for one reason or another I've never much enjoyed the ground. Don't get me wrong I actually quite like Bristol, my company's HQ is there and I spend a bit of time in the City but Aston Gate is another story. Arrive by train and you're still some way from the ground. Make the mistake of having a bevvie or two at the waterfront and leave anytime after 2 and you could well miss kickoff. Being sheparded back to town with the knuckle draggers along the abandoned railwaylines is also not a place for colours or to even speak unless you're from 'that way'. You could of course drive but then you'll find there's nowhere to park. Promotion season was something of a low point, whilst I had a cracking weekend away in Bristol we missed kickoff and had to put up with Lee Peacock and Christian Robers over the top celebrations in front of a packed away end. We don't have a great record down there (I think the last win involved a brace from Karl Connolly of all people - Ledesma he wasn't!!) but its pleasing to see City bottle promotion with regular ease, it certainly helped when neither us nor them seemed to want to go up towards the end of 2004 and last season they managed to avoid the Premiership when it might have been easier to have gone up. Team Prediction: I doubt there will be much change from Tuesday though that could depend on the fitness of the likes of Hall and Rowlands, Blackstock could return so: Cerney Ramage Stewart Connolly Delaney Ledesma Legs Parejo Rowlands Cook Blackstock Some sort of Christmas tree style formation I imagine though he could well go a tad more defensive away and bring in Mahon in place of Rowly. Score Prediction/Betting: For my £3 of Rganics money I'd say have a punt on 1-1 at 5/1, first goal scorer Stewart looks good at 25/1 as I seem to recall when he gets one he's likely to get another quickly and our setplays will improve as the team gels. For them Sproule at 12s looks good value as we seem to be a bit susceptible to a someone arriving late/cutting in from wide. Odds from William Hill. Haiku I still don't understand these mathmatical poems. Delicacies I can't find too much in the way of Bristol specialities but here's a recipe for Bristol Cake: http://www.retrofoodrecipes.com/bristol_cake.html Drinking If anyone is staying down for the weekend I do quite like the following place: http://www.zerodegrees.co.uk/index.php Foods a bit poncey but the ales good. |
