| | Whatever you think of his tenure as whatever position it was that he actually held, first team figure-head or something, you can't argue with his cup record. | | | |

| been higher in the league than we have for a long time, progressed in cups better than a long time........ bloody ridiculous but i suppose that the "who buys, sells, or loans" dispute was the straw that broke the F1 cars suspension and the wheels came off | | | |

| What a joke.
I knew this would happen though, ID was a bad appointment full stop but to be sacked after 15 games is mental.
He should of at least been given to Xmas, more I think of it I don't think this decision was down to results, maybe more to do with performance and how we were playing etc etc.
So who next? To be honest I don't really care.

| | Presumably giving him until Christmas would make it hard to spend wisely in the transfer window. | | | |

| they say managers at the end of the day are judged on results. His were as good if not better than most of the recent incumbants. As someone else said its embarassing. | | | |

| This feels a bit trigger-happy to me. Look at the state we were in under Waddock and Gregory: you can't tell me that we haven't made progress. It's not like the club has spent a million billion pounds on Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Deco et al and haven't got promoted! We're 15 games into a 3 year plan aren't we? | | | |

| well, I guess he's been given resources which the owners hoped would generate better results and/or football.
Personally, if this means we'll get back to playing nice positive football, I'll be happy. Strange that this is done prior to a televised game, however.

| there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Dowie was out the trapdoor before xmas.
he was here to do exactly what he's done. the next bloke will be given a few decent faces at xmas (or if he's trusted - a budget of his own) and will be 'made to' guarantee us a play off spot.

| yea i agree but to sack him just before the reading game is a bit silly to me but i suppose theres no sense constantly putting it off, i still question who was in charge of transfers cause it still seems a little silly that we only have 2 strikers and noone thought to get another one before the season started
we have been pretty solid at the back but we seem to have trouble scoring which cant solely be down to dowie

clearly Di Carmine is/will not be up to it and with Vine coming back in, they thought it might be enough. Frankly I think they thought Parejo would be the new Zidane but that didn't work either. Remember also that Flav was touting Balanta as the next Pele while everybody else knew that signing Kevin Phillips would virtually guarantee promotion.

| yea welcome nick
i do think vine coming back will help but again not really the sort of out and out goal scorer, whatever happened with transfers at the beginning of the season we only realistically started the season with one player who you could see scoring 15-20 goals and thats blackstock but really agye is only good for 10 goals max, and i think we have 2 good support players in vine and buzz we need another goal scorer
even if blackstock lasts the season and plays consitantly well we still need another option
also i get the feeling dowie was being told to start parejo even though at times he has not earned his place, and i just think he has been treated unfairly hes actually done alright and while i thought he was the wrong choice at the start i had started to come round to him, and sure we had not been playing well but these things happen in football, you gotta give him more time to turn it around its not even like the draw at swansea was a terrible result considering how close they are to us in the league and how well they have been playing and how badly we have
and this really puts us in trouble for the reading game

| You have to go with either one of these 2 scenarios.
1) A management structure that stays in place for at least a couple of seasons and works up to success.
Or
2) A big name manager who brings in players. The right manager would pay for himself by being able to negotiate reasonable contracts with star player who want to play for him.
Whoever it is they must have managed at the highest level. I voted for the special one last time around, after all to build a successful brand you need maximum exposure. You need personality, passion and a great media presence. =Venables. Still lacks the world wide persona for branding but gets closer to any other person in the betting right now.
Wash your mouth you who said Kegean, he's an idiot. (Sorry Kev me old mucker). And if it's someone we havn't heard of then the brand goes out of the window. The brand is realy important if you want to be in the top half of the premiership in the future.
It's 92 here today, how's your rain? (sorry)

| Morning, I was mocked back in August when I suggested that Dowie wasn't picking the side and look what has emerged. He wasn't !! I also asked for a 20 goal a season striker - and that wasn't received well either. Check out the teams at the top - they all have strikers that will score 20! We are distinctly poor in front of goal. We DO need that elusive striker. I hope the new manager is 1. Allowed to choose the side and 2. Buys a good, experienced striker. The Daily Star printed that Venables will be our next manager. That would be a great signing. Please don't let it be "I love my own voice" Holloway !! | | | |
