From my viewpoint in the South Africa Road stand it looked utterly innocuous, if anything Leigterwood appeared to pull out of an attempt at the ball and only just caught Carsley in the midriff with his hand. The ref's reaction was instant, it was almost like he already had his card in his hand. Carsley initially didn't even go to ground and only did so when the card was shown which seemed a strange reaction. I have read others, possibly having viewed it from the Ellerslie side, saying it did seem a poor challenge though.

Yeah have subsequently heard both views too. Seems Legs offered the ref an opportunity which he siezed more than enthusiastically. Shame cos we'd found a right back that offered hope!
