| I suspect some sensationalism here (by the Sunday Mirror, I mean). I doubt there'll even be a fine, never mind a points/league deduction.
Of course, if it were to happen, do we blame the wellwishers who discovered and publicised this loan?

| Sure, that makes sense. We cant blame the Teflon Don now can we? It must be the fans's fault, it usually is. etc

| | Both good points, but can't help feeling a bit negative about this one.....after all the publicity recently about Tevez, are the Football League going to "clamp down"? Does anyone know if there were actually any rules broken through this? | | | |

| Actually that's exactly what was suggested by one or two posters on another board (a few weeks ago.)
Because I put the story on my blog. Obviously the FA and media read it on my blog and took action, etc.!

| | Well, no, I guess I referred to the original fans group who chose to publicise their findings. I'm not necessarily suggesting they took the wrong course of action, I'm merely questioning whether a relegation is an apt punishment. | | | |

| I guess Julia on Boardroom Blues was the first to the story back at the end of April http://www.boardroomblues.co.uk/blitz.htm But it was based on a public document filed at Company House, so assumed would be public
(So if we were to be relegated, would that put Leeds back up!! )
- But honestly, cannot conceive of such a Draconian punishment - even IF - big if, I hope, if anything violated.) The very fact that we knew this would be public/would be examined, surely "shows" we at least thought we weren't doing anything wrong

| | I guess it would put Leeds back up, who would then be relegated due to going into administration. | | | |

| Why would Leeds go back up? They finished last after their deduction.
Now if this was another club, Id be pissing my pants at the thought of Leeds screwing themselves over.

Fascinating post mr eyeroll.
Interesting choice of nickname for the Chairman, too. Are you suggesting nothing sticks to GP? You must be living in a different world to me. Where I am everything seems to stick to him. There's a whole message board devoted solely to explaing that he is the devil himself. And then there's you, quite happy to refer to him as a 'Don', utilising a handy stereotype suggesting all Italians are somehow linked to the Mafia (just as all Muslims, no doubt, are terrorists, eh, zh?) to make another snide, distinctly unpalatable slur on a message board. What a truly unpleasant human being.

| I may be a pessimist, but I think you lot err too far the other way . This could be disastrous if true, and probably will be. A fine we can't afford, points deduction, relegation. Any of these could finish the club. Morale would be low, no new half-decent signings, poor crowds, unattractive to serious potential investors or sponsors etc. Has to make you wonder if the people running the club are honest but stupid or a bunch of crooks. What were thay thinking of in relation to this loan? If the loan was legal, then I apologise, but it sounded dodgy to me (as ironically, a middle-aged trainee lawyer here in Australia).
I've always been prepared to give Paladini & Co. the benefit of the doubt. Whatever his original motives may have been, whether benign or not, I believe he has come to care deeply about the club. The only time Paladini has really frustrated me was in getting rid of Holloway (good man, inspirational manager). Yes, we all know most chairmen seem to have egos that far outweigh their bank balances, but that in itself is nothing to get too worked up about. IF the Mirror is onto something here, the club will be FINISHED-in the Conference (or whatever it is now called) faster than the blink of an eye.
When I left the UK to move oto Australia in May 1995 everyone saw as us not as a second division outfit as we were when I began to watch the club in 1970, but as a Premiership outfit (albeit one of the smaller ones). We were still famous! If ever we want that back again, like it or not we need a move to a bigger ground, better players etc. This takes investment. If we do end up with a morale-breaking penalty, it will be damn hard to find decent investment in the club. The only real answer will be for ourselves, together with probably Brentford, to form a new West London club. It may not come to this (ie merger as a solution) if this season, we manage to sneak into the play-offs (unlikely, but not impossible) and somehow, win the play-off.
With a serious penalty in place however, there will be precious little for any of us to look forward toward (except fot the anoraks who like"non-league" football). This is very, very, worrying to those that love the club. We'll be the ones that really suffer.

I may be a pessimist.... You are. Take a chill pill. This is a storm in a tea cup. With the usual schadenfreude crew on board for accompaniment. We're going to have a good season next season, in the Championship.

| More weltschmerz than schadenfreude!
But I do agree with Hud, I think on-the-field (short of a total implosion off the field) this season will be a good one: Think the first full Francis season after he returned. Competent management in unquestioned control should add a number of points.

| well if the mirror said it, it must be true! fucking mickey mouse journalism (remember the fake iraq prisoner scam?)
i have no doubt what so ever that someone will put me right if i am wrong, but i'm led to believe that qpr made no effort to keep details of the loan becoming public? hardly the actions of guilty men!
and the loan has been paid back yes?
and i read a quote from the oldham chairman explaining that it was a personal loan and not a deal between the two clubs.
surely the FA have much bigger, dirtier washing to be rooting through! premiership transfers, bungs, illegal tapping up of players, anything to do with the Chelscum etc.. imposing fines on violent teams who damage international relations with China... oh bollocks. that was us too right?!

| What kind of utter bollocks is this by the way (from the same article): "A Football League source said: "We have unlimited powers to take an acceptable course of action in the case of QPR." Unlimited fucking powers? what are they going to do then, nuke Loftus Road into oblivion cos we didn't pay back a loan in time? | | | |
